TRACEWORKS PROJECTS

Schools

2017-PRESENT

At Traceworks Dance, we believe that creativity and dance play a crucial role in schools, fostering self-expression, physical well-being, and emotional development. Integrating these disciplines into the educational curriculum equips students with invaluable skills and enhances their overall educational experience. By providing opportunities for students to explore movement and express themselves creatively, schools can support holistic development and cultivate lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Our team of skilled and experienced dance artists and teachers have visited schools on bespoke partnerships, as well as part of the community outreach for our professional creative projects & productions. They deliver workshops, dance clubs, and performance projects in schools with precision, care and creativity, providing students with enriching experience of the world of dance.

Workshops & Clubs

Since 2017, we have offered and delivered both one-off visits and regular provision in primary schools to enhance the curriculum with physical and creative dance workshops and/or after-school dance clubs. They have either had a technical focus, used a specific theme, or coincided with curriculum-based learning. Examples of schools we have worked with include Wimbledon Chase Primary School and Collège Français Bilingue de Londres.

Repertory Workshops

Alongside our professional projects & productions, we have offered and delivered workshops based on our choreography and creative work. These are designed to inspire young artists to work in the creative industries, create learning links for young people to our company and creations; and to share our expertise in workshops involving both technical and creative tuition. These images were taken during a JACK DEFROST workshop at Sheldon School, Chippenham, Wiltshire led by James Aiden Kay and Julian Lewis.

Tiffin Dance Company

Since 2021, Traceworks Co-Director, James Aiden Kay has regularly visited Tiffin School (for boys, Kingston, London) to deliver both highly physical and creative dance workshops for their in-school dance company. This link to a professional company has empowered the dancers with new skills and confidence. The partnership has included the creation of several new choreographic works on the group, with 2 of these pieces being selected for the U.Dance London Regional Platform (performances at Trinity Laban), and 1 piece winning the London Youth Games KS3 Dance Competition 2022.
